Do you know how to clean your pillow?
We have to sleep every day, and pillows are the ones that have the most contact with our heads and faces, often leaving a lot of sweat and oil stains. Long-term use will also be contaminated with dust, bacteria and mites.
Here are some examples of ways to let us know how to wash our pillows, eliminate bacteria, eliminate mites, and enjoy healthy and high-quality sleep.
Regarding the cleaning of the pillowcase, because the pillowcase is relatively outside, it is easier to get dirty. Remove the pillowcase, put it in warm water, pour an appropriate amount of white vinegar into the warm water, soak it for 20 minutes and then wash it. The pillowcase after this cleaning will look extraordinarily clean.
The most important thing is actually about the cleaning of the pillow core, because this is more demanding than the cleaning of the pillowcase. For ordinary pillow cleaning, it is recommended to soak in warm water for 15 minutes, then machine wash, add some bleach and borax. Pay attention to the pillows to be placed along the drum of the washing machine, do not stack together, so as not to wash clean. After washing and drying, take more pats so that the pillow core will become softer!
Cleaning of individual materials
Memory Pillow
For memory foam pillows with sensitive materials, the washing procedure of the washing machine is too rough, so pillows of this material must be washed by hand. You only need to pack enough water to cover the pillow. Add a tablespoon of laundry detergent to the water for each pillow. Slightly stir the water by hand to let it foam and mix well. Put the pillow in the water and flip it slightly to help the detergent penetrate the pillow. Knead and squeeze the pillow with your hands to help remove the dirt and let the dirt pass through the outer layer to make the pillow clean. Because high temperature will destroy the memory foam and make it break, it must not be exposed to the sun, so it should be placed in a dry place to air dry after washing.
Down pillow
Down pillows cannot be washed in a washing machine either, and should be washed by hand. The most important step for hand washing down pillows is to soak, because to ensure that the shape of the down pillows does not change, the most effective method for stubborn stains is to soak. First put the pillow in cold water and soak for about 20-25 minutes, then pick it up and soak it in warm water for half an hour. Add a proper amount of laundry detergent to the warm water before soaking. After soaking, keep pressing the pillow gently until it is clean. Be sure to squeeze out the excess laundry detergent. Then use warm water to bleach, and put some vinegar in the warm water, so that the solution can settle down and the pillow can be washed. Finally, rinse the pillow with clean water and squeeze out the excess water. Lay the washed pillows flat and dry, so that the washed and dried pillows will be softer and more fluffy.
Latex pillow
It is also recommended to wash latex pillows by hand, and do not use detergents, do not put them in a washing machine or other machine washing equipment, it is easy to wash the pillows. When washing by hand, try to use the pressing method as much as possible, because when washing, it will absorb a lot of water, which will double the weight, and move it in the water as much as possible. When taking out the water surface, do not grab a small corner part and pull it up and move it, because the pillow will break if the weight is too heavy. When cleaning it, you must hold the center of gravity (central part) and most of the volume like tofu, and take out the water surface carefully. After cleaning, use a towel or other absorbent material, press with both hands to absorb the water, and then dry in a cool place. Take care to avoid exposure to the sun. If you want to dry faster, wait two or three hours later. Press the water with your hand to drain the excess water, or you can use an electric fan to blow dry.
